Santa Bear Challenge

IMG_2319

My upline, Alesha issued a challenge to all the demos that attended the Quarterly meeting on Monday night,

to make a bear using the "Beary Merry" dies - basically to make and decorate a bear wearing Santa's outfit.
We had no restrictions other than it was JUST the bear (no card, layout, boxes) and it had to use only Stampin' Up material.
This was my entry for the challenge. While I was playing around with the pieces I noticed that the female shoes fit nicely on the bears head… and Elvis Bear was born!
The prize for the challenge winner was all of the other bears that everyone entered, and I WON!! Yay, so hear are the other super cool bears that were entered in the challenge:

Great Demos and Great Prizes

Monday night was a quarterly Demonstrator meeting and its was great! It was great to see so many of our usual group there, plus Helena (an awesome lady we met at the Fair) and some other guests! There were some great demos and displays and a cute make and take:
IMG_2311 This neat little scrapbook wallet opens up and has three sections to put a photo with a little caption. It would be a great idea in place of a card, especially if you are sending pictures to friends and family!

Delightful Decorations

This is one of the new sets that you can find in the Holiday Mini. I just love Christmas decorations so this set was on the top of my list to pick up! Plus you can get a coordinating punch to add to the excitement! It turns out I was not the only person who thought this set was the best. Be sure to register for my upcoming Stamp-a-Stack or November’s 8 Cards for $10, where I will feature this great set on one of the cards at these events.

Here are some fabulous samples I have got in the last little while:

Stampinpalooza and some great swaps!

So after meeting Linda Hansen on the Friday night, we rested up at the hotel and on Saturday morning headed over to Stampinpalooza! It was a great event with tons of awesome demonstrations. Some great ideas that I am thinking about making into some classes, so stay posted! I think my favourite part of any of these events is the swapping! Basically you make up as many card fronts as you want and then you trade them with everyone else! How cool is that? This is the swap that I put together:
IMG_2228 I used Ruby Red, Very Vanilla and Sahara Sand. A subtle combination with just a little pop of colour. I cut the Sahara Sand with the Top Note die. The flowers and the leaves are from Petal Pizzazz. This particular stamp fits nicely in the Scallop Circle Punch!

I got about 50 new swaps from this event!! Of course I can’t show them all, but here is just a few of my favourites.

If you want to know how to make any of them send me an email to find out about hosting a workshop, where you and your friends can learn how to make up to four items of your choice!

Stampinpalooza!

So first off, apologies out to all, I haven’t been very good at posting the last few days. Darren has been on vacation – which has involved putting up drywall and painting in the basement… oh boy fun! To make everything even better, I sat down to take some photos of all the great cards and swaps I’ve got recently and, surprise, my camera broke! It’s a pretty old camera but I loved it, so I’m sad that it’s broken. That being said, I had to dig out Darren’s camera, which is even older, so I’m sorry if the pictures are not so amazing for the next little while! A new camera is the only thing on my list for Santa, so hopefully one shows up under the tree this year!

Last week Cait, Nancy and I headed to Toronto for a big Toronto_October_2009_172event called Stampinpalooza! It’s run by one of the top demos in Canada, Caroline Bebel. So on the Friday evening we drove three hours to the east end of Toronto, to join about 60 other demonstrators at a demonstrator only event which included a fabulous presentation by the one and only Linda Hansen! We were so excited to see her again, she was one of the first people to greet Cait and I at regionals back in March. She had a great talk about handling a family, household work and Stampin’ Up all at the same time! Some of her tips were fabulous, plus it’s always nice to hear how other people manage it all!

Then it was off to our hotel to rest up for Saturday, Stampinpalooza!

Post-it Note Purses

PICT5131 Some one asked me at the fair if I could post pictures of the cute little post-it purses that I taught in one of the classes. It was a busy class, I had so many people that I ran out of supplies!!! But not to worry, this project is quick and easy to recreate, you just need to pick up a pack of post-it! As a tip: look for sticky notes at the dollar store or in clearance bins at department stores, especially if you are going to make a bunch of them. Another option is to split a tall notepad into even chunks, these stacks can also be found at the dollar store! Its all about finding the best deals!!
They are very easy to change up for any occasion or season. The second one is made with a smaller chunk of a notepad. It is mounted on a chipboard coaster, which is covered in designer paper. Add some ribbon and some embellishments and it’s done!PICT5133
